Plant information

General

The Chlorophytum comosum is everywhere these days, and we get why. This spider plant is the ideal green friend for people who think they can’t keep any plants alive, and for places like offices where plants usually don’t get much attention. The funky, happy plant requires very little care and is nearly impossible to kill. Originally from South Africa, the spider plant now serves as a popular houseplant in households all over the world. If you treat your plant with a little extra care, he might just surprise you with a few white flowers every now and then.

Care

The spider plant doesn’t ask for much, but a little extra attention is always appreciated. Water your plant once a week in the winter, two to three times in the summer. And don’t stress if you forget a watering session once or twice, your spider plant will forgive you.

Placing

Place the plant in a sunny spot without direct sunlight. Too much sun can brown and burn its pretty leaves. A spot with partial shade is fine, but do make sure the plant gets enough light. If the small, white lines on its leaves get smaller, it means your plant needs a bit more sunshine.

Propogation

The roots of the spider plant grow like crazy, so repotting at least once a year is highly recommended. Are you looking to propagate the plant? You can pull the roots apart and make two different plants, or simply uproot the baby plants growing from the stem.
