Plant information

General

Palms are extremely fashionable. A good example of a popular palm plant is the Livistona rotundifolia. The Round-leaf Fountain Palm originates from the tropical and sub-tropical rain forests of Australia and Asia. So, this handsome plant adds an exotic touch to every setting. An added advantage is the positive effect that the Round-leaf Fountain Palm has on the indoor climate. The palm helps protect against eye irritation, headaches, and fatigue.

Care

Given its origins, the Round-leaf Fountain Palm needs a fair amount of water. It requires somewhat less during the winter and at low temperatures. Ensure high humidity, among other things, by spraying regularly and keeping the soil moist.

Placing

The Round-leaf Fountain Palm is about 30 centimetres tall when purchased and slowly grows to a height of two metres. This takes quite some time, and makes the palm suitable for a bright spot. The  Round-leaf Fountain Palm can be placed indoors as well as outdoors. The plant can be placed in direct sunlight when outdoors, but when indoors, it is best to avoid direct sunlight. Is the plant located outside? Then choose a spot next to a fence or wall to keep the palm out of the wind. It will be necessary to protect the palm against the cold when temperatures drop below 15 degrees. This can be done using special winter covers for palms.

Propogation

Palms are not fans of repotting. It's better to replace the top layer of soil every year with fresh soil. If repotting is necessary because the roots need more space, then do it in April or May.
