Plant information

General

This ornamental indoor plant owes its Dutch name to the older leaves which acquire splits after time. The Split Leaf Philodendron - an original inhabitant of the South American rain forest - is an easy, sturdy houseplant. Also, the unique leaves are very suitable as lovely eye-catching decoration. Because the Philodendron is easy to keep we often find this plant in the office.

Care

Make sure that the Philodendron's soil always remains slightly moist. But beware: the Split Leaf Philodendron is sensitive to overwatering. Give it small amounts of water when the soil begins to dry. Furthermore, the plant likes to be sprayed.

Placing

The Split Leaf Philodendron is at home in the shade as well as in a bright spot. Avoid direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon. During the autumn, the plant can be placed closer to the window.

Propogation

You can repot a Philodendron immediately after purchase or preferably in the spring. Choose a pot that is larger than the old one. It is not necessary to repot older plants; replacing the loose top layer of soil is sufficient.
